Podcast on Pause, Three Ready to Go!

It all started when I reconnected with a journalist family friend who had the wild idea of collaborating with me on a podcast. He was in the UK, I was in the U.S., and we navigated the time zones over email and Zoom. We bonded over the sheer absurdity of the fact that he had interviewed Puff Daddy, Princess Diana, and Michael Jackson—but was now choosing to record with me. Why? Because, despite being tone-deaf, I can sing (badly), laugh, and make people dance while embracing their raw, most authentic selves.

To get things rolling, he even mailed me a makeshift microphone, which I rigged up with a mason jar stand—because, let’s be real, we had no studio. This was a full-fledged "out of your mom’s basement" operation.

After months of back-and-forth, Martin finally convinced his expert filmmaking editor to edit our first three episodes. We’ll be rolling them out soon, but for now, the podcast itself is on pause. Life’s been busy, and between job hunting and my new role at RDR, we’re taking a breather before diving back in.

The cover art journey was a whole other adventure. I searched high and low for an artist, hitting dead ends until I found Fiverr—basically TaskRabbit for art. After days of brainstorming, I finally got the perfect pop-art cover: me, riding a DNA strand in my wheelchair, with Martin chasing behind, microphone in hand.

While the podcast is taking a break after these first three episodes, my blog is getting a serious upgrade. I’m transitioning from Blogger.com to Squarespace for a more polished look, thanks to a mutual friend who’s helping with the move. He’s even recording tutorials so I can learn to manage the site myself.

I’ve always been drawn to marketing and PR—whether it was my time as a brand ambassador for Beyond Good chocolate or my communications degree from NYU. While I initially expected to jump right into the field, I’ve taken a more unconventional path, juggling passion projects while applying for internships and entry-level roles.

And let’s not forget the social media grind—constantly tweaking my Instagram and Facebook to share my journey in a way that’s true to me. Right now, I’m a self-employed blogger and podcast creator who just so happens to be navigating a new job. Not bad, right?

So, while Wheeling and Dealing with Charley Seckler and Martin Bashir is officially on pause, we’ve got three episodes in the vault—ready to release soon. Stay tuned.
